The Restylane family of products includes Restylane, Restylane-L, Restylane Fine Lines, Perlane, and Perlane-L. These products are intended for individual use to add volume to facial tissue.
Restylane and Restylane-L are recommended for the correction of wrinkles and lip enhancement.
Perlane and Perlane-L are recommended for shaping the contours of the face, correcting folds and lip enhancement.
Restylane-L and Perlane-L have been enhanced with the addition of lidocaine in order to reduce patient discomfort during treatment.
Restylane Fine Lines is recommended for the correction of thin, superficial lines, for example periorbital lines, perioral lines, forehead lines and smile lines.
Important Safety Information for the Restylane family of products
- Restylane-L and Perlane-L should not be used on patients with hypersensitivity to lidocaine or amide type local anesthetics.
- The most commonly observed side effects are swelling, redness, pain, itching, discolouration, and tenderness at the implant site. This will typically last less than a week.
- Additionally, temporary palpable lumpiness has been noted after use in some patients.
- The Restylane family of products has not been tested for safety in pregnant or lactating women, or in patients under 18 years.
- The Restylane family of products should not be injected anywhere except the skin or just under the skin, and must not be implanted into blood vessels.
- Like any intradermal injection, the Restylane family of products is associated with an inherent risk of infection.
- The use of the Restylane family of products at the site of skin sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts or infection should be postponed until healing is complete.
- Avoid exposure of the treated area to intense heat (such as solarium and sunbathing) or extreme cold until any initial swelling and redness have resolved.
- For each treatment site, a maximum dosage of 0.8 mL of Restylane Fine Lines and 2 mL of Restylane, Restylane-L, Perlane, and Perlane-L per treatment session is recommended.
